Day 1: Mwanza to Rubondo Island national park
After an early breakfast at the hotel in Mwanza, your tour driver will pick you up and drive you to Rubondo on a drive that will take about 4-5 hours to reach either Nkome or Kasenda village. From there, you will go on a speed boat ride to Rubondo Island national park. Check in and enjoy a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, you will put on your comfortable walking shoes and head out for a guided game viewing nature walk on the tropical island, Rubondo that is home to over 300 bird species. During your safari walk, look out for the birds like the grey parrots, African fish eagles, woodpeckers among others and animals like bushbucks, elephants, hippos, suni antelopes, vervet monkeys, sitatunga antelopes in the marshes and more. Return to the TANAPA bandas or Rubondo Island camp for dinner and an overnight.
Day 2: Fishing in Lake Victoria – Rubondo Island national park
Today you take to the shores of Rubondo island national park and get on about to go for your fishing experience in Lake Victoria, the largest lake on the African continent. After your breakfast, meet your fishing guide and get your fishing equipment ready. Lake Victoria has a variety of different fish species like the famous Nile Perch that every angler who visits Rubondo hopes to reel in, the common tilapia, catfish among others. Fishing in Rubondo Island national park is a catch and release for conservation purposes. The different fishing techniques used in Rubondo include spinning live, dead bait, trolling and fly fishing.
While on your fishing excursion, be sure to enjoy your surrounding. There is a lot to see to supplement your fishing adventure like the variety of water birds, crocodiles, hippos and otters.
Day 3: Rubondo Island to Mwanza
After your breakfast, you will exit Rubondo Island national park. Transfer back to Mwanza city marking the end of your fishing tour.
